SonRise Christian Church was founded by Pastor Steve & Cathy Smith on Easter Sunday 2009. They began meeting in the living room of a church member’s house but quickly outgrew that setting. Pembroke Manor Christian Church has been a landmark in the Pembroke neighborhood of Virginia Beach since the 1960s when it was built. As God’s plan would have it, the 2 churches would join together under the same roof in 2012 and worship together as family for several years. In January 2017, SonRise Christian Church and Pembroke Manor Christian Church officially merged together and became SonRise @ Pembroke Manor Christian Church.
